The Friday Night Rock The Parks events are being organized because the WPC, as the not-for-profit (NFP) maintenance and enhancement arm of Westerleigh Park along with Northerleigh Park under the aegis of NYC Parks, sees the need to inject funds into the park in order to have them function safely and properly. You may think that Westerleigh and Northerleigh Parks, are city property and should not need any type of funding or public helps since the parks are NYC Parks parcels. The fact of the matter is that NYC Parks is stretched very thin and have a very small budget to maintain its parkland across the five boroughs. When you consider that its staff and budget is routinely cut from decade to decade, the facts come into focus rather quickly that community NFP groups are needed to help steer NYC Parks to what the neighborhood wants to see become of these spaces.

Our Mission as the NFP 501(c)(3) entity for these neighborhood parks, is rather simple. Beautification and safe usage while keeping the parks maintained and appealing to those who pass by or spend time within them. This is the main reason we need to raise funds in such a manner: budgetary restraints, as well as the fact that requesting work to be performed by the city through NYC Parks takes almost a decade to come to fruition. This is where you come in, as local businesses who have an interest in "giving back" to the community you serve or as a way to become part of the community; sponsorship of our event would be a great way to help.

Since June of 2025, we have been in discussions with many city entities about having the paving stones redone around the iconic over 100 year-old Westerleigh Park Bandshell, which are tripping hazards to visitors and pets alike in many areas. We have followed the protocols set forth by NYC Parks to remedy this concern and have realized that it is quite the undertaking and requires full replacement of the existing stonework. The costs is truly monumental, upward of $50,000, and will take some strategic fundraising. We would like to have this completed for a target of Spring 2027!

One way you can help the cause is to purchase a Business Sponsorship. There are three levels to chose from and all will get your business noticed weekly, across 14 weeks of the Friday Night Rock The Park events at the bandshell. Another way to help us raise funds would be to purchase a t-shirt sponsorship. Our exclusive Rock The Park '26 t-shirt will be sold during the course of the summer concert series and is another way to get your business noticed and show the neighborhood that you support them.
